Delancey Place Townhome

This project was featured in the November 2016 issue of Philadelphia Magazine (p146).

Philadelphia's Most Prestigious Address

Delancey Place is a series of streets in the Rittenhouse Square neighborhood of Philadelphia, named after Right Reverend William Heathcote DeLancey (1797–1865), provost of the University of Pennsylvania (1828–1834) and a bishop of the Episcopal Church. Known as the "Belle of Rittenhouse Square", the area includes a variety of types of homes from carriage houses on the eastern end, palatial mansions from 1800-2000s in a variety of architectural styles including Second Empire Victorian, Italianate, Georgian Revival, Classical Revival, Queen Anne and Victorian Gothic (the personal style of Frank Furness). Nos. 2000–2018 are listed in the National Register of Historic Places, the renowned Rosenbach Museum is at 2008. This block also appears in a number of films made in Philadelphia including Trading Places, The Sixth Sense and others.

Old Village Master Painters and the Old Village Design Studio have had the privilege to bring the Old Village touch to this beautiful section of the city

We recently worked with designer Ashli Mizell and Cherokee Construction to remodel a Federal style town home on Delancey Place that was featured in the November 2016 issue of Philadelphia Magazine (p146).

Beautiful Effects

The Old Village Design Studio brought their special touch to this project, applying a beautiful finish to the oak paneling in a family room that amplifies the natural light using a wood wash that was then hand waxed with a custom tinted wax

The entrance door features custom stains on both the interior and exterior plus a gorgeous blue venetian plaster - both from the Old Village Design Studio. also painted the inner door and the sunburst windows above the transoms with a high gloss white from Fine Paints of Europe

Fine Paints of Europe

A high gloss black on the doors, windows and woodwork looks great against the white walls in this hallway. High gloss is one of the signature features of Fine Paints of Europe.

Beautiful woodwork really stands out with a high gloss. We used lighter colors from Fine Paints of Europe here to highlight the bookshelves, mantle, ornate crown moldings, doors, and casings.

First Impressions

Delancey Place is said to be the most prestigious address in Philadelphia, much of this due to the great charm of the homes and the beautiful facades. We brought the Old Village touch to the windows, shutters, handrail, and window grates on the front of this home near the Rosenbach Museum - and a gorgeous stain on the front door.

The french doors at the entrance greet visitors with a custom stain, created and applied by the Old Village Design Studio, that brings out the beauty of the wood , as shown in the close-up below.
