Cerused or Limed Oak
Cerused Oak was developed back in the 1500s when the French began using a lead based paste to prevent rot in oak beams and panels. This helped protect the wood but also left a beautiful finish that highlights the contrast between the wood and the grain. This finish - called Cerused Oak or Limed Oak - can be used on cabinets, furniture, even hardwood floors, decks and stairs. It is a popular treatment for oak but can also be used on other hard woods.
The Old Village Design Studio uses modern, safe, non-toxic materials to bring a beautiful and unique Cerused Oak look to your floors, doors, cabinets, or stairs. (See our EnveloStrip™ process for safely and quickly removing old paint and finishes from your existing cabinets or doors.)
