Korman House

The Korman House Exterior Restoration
Old Village Master Painters completely restored the badly weather cypress and oak exterior of the world famous Korman House, which included cleaning, sanding, and applying new varnish to the cypress walls and oak windows.
Designed by Louis Kahn (1901-1974), one of the most influential architects of the mid-20th century, the Korman House in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania is considered Kahn’s finest (and last) residential project. Although the home was completed in 1973, the weather over 30+ years had damaged the cypress panels on the exterior. Old Village Master Painters restored the cypress in a project that was featured in the February 2005 issue of Architectural Digest.

Cypress Restoration
Although it was only built in 1973, the finish on the cypress exterior and oak window trim had badly deteriorated. The undated before photo contrasts sharply with the final restoration by Old Village.
