St Martins Lane Mansion
Old Village Master Painters had the pleasure to work on a Lead Paint RRP project on this beautiful historic mansion - recognized by the Chestnut Hill Preservation and Historical Association - on St Martin's Lane. The home features large arched palladian windows and shutters facing the inner courtyard. The 1st floor features casements and the 2nd floor louvered shutters, all of which had been painted shut for years.
The St. Martin's Lane area was at the core of Chestnut Hill's transformation from a rural village to a suburban community served by two railroad lines. Developed by Pennsylvania Railroad director Henry Howard Houston, and continued by his son-in-law George Woodward, St. Martin's includes several community institutions as well as many fine homes.
We safely removed the lead paint and restored the windows to like-new condition, then repainted the exterior.
This home on St Martin's Lane is recognized by the Chestnut Hill Conservancy and Historical Association

Highlights of this project below
Preserving the Details
The ornamentation on windows, doors and other architectural details are part of what makes your home unique and gives it character. Preserving these details - mill-work, carvings, wavy antique glass - is essential to our restoration process.
Restoring Old Windows
Old Village specializes in restoring and preserving older, odd and over-sized windows often found on older homes like this one in Chestnut Hill. Our new EnveloStrip™ process allows us to do most of the messy paint removal and restoration work away off-site
Restoration Complete
The courtyard with the beautiful 1st floor palladium windows and casements, 2nd floor windows and shutters and dormer windows - all lead paint removed, restored to working order and preserved with a great paint job.

Restoring Old Windows
Old Growth wood windows will last a very long time with proper maintenance and keeping them is the greener choice over throwing them away.. They were designed and crafted to fit your home and when properly restored can be as energy efficient as new windows.
