Historic Homes & Properties

Older Homes and Historic Properties

Old Village Master Painters has a special affection for older homes (the Stulb homestead dates to 1706!). We have had the pleasure to have worked on many of the older farmhouses and mansions in the historic areas of Fort Washington, the Chestnut Hill Historic District, the Main Line, the colonial era homes in Old City, and the stately 19th century townhouses around Rittenhouse Square; plus historic landmarks managed by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.
Older homes (and sometimes newer ones) often need more than just a fine paint job. Old Village Master Painters can handle most restoration/reconstruction projects involving specialized crafts such as carpentry, plastering, and removing lead paint necessary to preserve not only the decorative aspects of your home, but the structural as well. These homes require a special touch to restore them to their original beauty and preserve them for future generations,

"... an authentic appreciation for the special care that a historic home requires. It's a big responsibility to take on that kind of stewardship -- you don't want to use the wrong products, you don't want to cut corners. We deeply appreciated your thoughtful approach to every detail of the job."

....They took excellent care of our home, which is over 120 years old, and comes with lots of "surprises", like shutters that have been rigged up with wire for 50 years or the rotted window sills that couldn't be seen during the proposal phase. These "surprises" never seemed to bother them; they knew exactly how to handle each issue without a big production being made of the problem.
