Reactive Stains: Fumed Oak
The Old Village Design Studio™ has developed a process that brings the luxurious look of fumed oak to your home without the use of ammonia or toxic chemicals.
Fuming oak is a reactive stain process developed during the 19th century to give oak and some other high tannin woods an aged look by causing the tannins in wood to darken after exposure to ammonia. The
Old Village Design Studio™ has developed a process to achieve similar results on a larger scale, in your home, and without the dangers of using ammonia or other toxic chemicals.
Fumed Reclaimed Oak Panels
The Old Village Design Studio™ has developed a process that brings this same type of stain to oak as fuming, without the hazards of using ammonia or other toxic chemicals. We recently completed a
barn to residence conversion project in Chester County, PA where we applied this type of stain to antique oak panels in the first floor entry way. They really turned out beautiful!
Emilie also developed a special wood wash process used on the shelves, cabinets, and drawer fronts in the library of this home. Tour the whole project here.
The Fumed Oak process is a beautiful new addition to the special finishes and decorative effects available through Old Village Master Painters and the Old Village Design Studio. Please
